Academic Visit to the University of Granada under the Erasmus+ KA131 Staff Mobility Programme
Prof. Dr. Aliihsan ŞEKERTEKİN, a faculty member of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Iğdır University, participated in the Erasmus+ KA131 Staff Mobility Programme through an academic visit to the University of Granada, one of Spain’s leading higher education institutions.
The mobility provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen academic cooperation between Iğdır University and the University of Granada, promote scientific knowledge exchange, and explore new opportunities for future collaborative research.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Aliihsan ŞEKERTEKİN delivered a seminar entitled "Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) Studies." The seminar presented recent research on land surface temperature and urban heat island analysis, while also introducing the remote sensing studies, ongoing research projects, and national and international scientific collaborations carried out by the research teams at Iğdır University. The seminar fostered productive discussions and highlighted the importance of expanding international cooperation in the fields of remote sensing and geospatial sciences.
As part of the academic programme, several meetings were held with faculty members from the School of Building Engineering at the University of Granada. These discussions focused on potential joint research projects, scientific publications, and future collaborations within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
One of the highlights of the mobility was participating in a UAV-based field campaign at Castillo de la Estrella in Teba, Spain. Together with Prof. Dr. Jose Antonio Benavides López and Prof. Dr. Jesus M. Rodriguez Bulnes, UAV data acquisition was carried out for the three-dimensional documentation of this remarkable cultural heritage site. Although UAV-supported field surveys and 3D modelling constitute an important part of the ongoing research activities at Iğdır University, conducting these studies in a unique historical environment provided an excellent opportunity for international scientific collaboration and the exchange of professional experience.
Throughout the visit, the warm hospitality and generous support of Prof. Dr. David Hidalgo García and the academic staff of the School of Building Engineering greatly contributed to the success and productivity of the mobility.
This academic mobility reflects Iğdır University’s continuing commitment to internationalization by strengthening its collaborations with distinguished universities across Europe. Activities carried out within the Erasmus+ KA131 Programme are expected to contribute significantly to long-term academic partnerships through joint research projects, scientific publications, and future staff and student mobility.
Iğdır University believes that the academic partnership established with the University of Granada will continue to grow through collaborative research, innovative scientific projects, and international educational opportunities in the fields of remote sensing, photogrammetry, and geospatial sciences.
